4th of July

I love our neighborhood.
Every year they throw together a festive event... where kids, dogs, bikes, scooters, skateboards, wagons... you name it... it gets decorated and joins in a parade.  Its the simplest thing~ and all the kids seem to love it.
Anything RED, WHITE and BLUE gets put on as decor~ music is played and all the parents clap and cheer.

what a crowd.

waiting in line.

after the parade there are certificates, a water balloon toss and otter pops!
Everyone is laughing by the end of the hour...
and we all go on our merry way for BBQ's and fireworks.
its one of those fond memories of childhood.

Oh by the way~  I made some red velvet brownies to bring to a BBQ and they were a hit.  They looked beautiful, and tasted amazing too. The recipe originated from Food Network but it was brought to my attention via Sally's Baking Addiction Blog.
Sally is right~ these are amazing.  quick. easy. and super super addicting.
I strongly suggest~ if you have a BBQ, a Picnic, or just a friend visiting....
make these, and you will be asked to make them again and again.
I hope you had a Happy and Safe 4th of July!

  1. Wow, what a cool 4th of July tradition! So great for your boys!

We hibernate during 4th of July usually, only rearing our unsocial heads when it's time to grill....
